Frequently asked questions.

Is this the official website of Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD)?

No. baku-gyd-international-airport.com is an independent, unofficial travellers’ guide. We are not Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD), its operator, an airline or a government authority, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. For official matters — flight status, lost property, accessibility or complaints — use the airport’s own website or contact your airline.

How far is Baku Airport from the city centre?
Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport is about 25 km northeast of Baku city centre, roughly a 35-minute drive. The UNESCO Old City is in the centre, Gobustan is about an hour south, and the mountain resort of Gabala around three and a half hours northwest.
How do I get from Baku Airport into the city?
By licensed taxi, the Bolt or Uber ride-hailing apps, a pre-booked private transfer, a rental car, or the 24-hour Airport Express bus (H1). There is no rail or metro link to the airport, so road transport is the only option.
What currency is used at Baku Airport?
The Azerbaijani manat (₼). Cards are widely accepted, and ATMs and currency exchange are available in the terminal — withdraw some cash for buses and small purchases.
Is there a bus from Baku Airport?
Yes. The 24-hour Airport Express bus (H1) connects the airport with central Baku for a low flat fare, paid with a BakıKart travel card at the stop. Buses are the budget option; a taxi, ride-hailing app or private transfer is faster and door-to-door.
